Ispire Technology Delivers First Revenue Reacceleration of Its Turnaround, But Margins Collapse and the Cash-Flow-Positive Target Slips

Ispire Technology reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $0.24 per share on revenue of $26.68 million for the quarter ended June 2026, with earnings improving 7.7% year over year and revenue up 32.5%. The more important number for the turnaround narrative is the sequential one: revenue jumped 43% from the $18.7 million trough in the March quarter, the first genuine reacceleration since the restructuring began. Management called it an inflection point, and the cost side supports that framing — full-year operating expenses excluding credit losses fell 37% to $24.2 million, adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed to $4.0 million from $8.8 million, and full-year operating cash used was just $569,000 versus roughly $7.4 million a year earlier, a $6.8 million improvement. Cash rose sequentially to $19.3 million.

The quality of the quarter, however, was poor. Gross margin cratered to 6.3% from 12.3% a year ago and from roughly 17% in the first half of the fiscal year, driven by inventory impairments. Credit loss expense stayed elevated at $9.2 million, and the net loss widened sequentially to $13.8 million from $9.5 million. For the full year, revenue fell 25% to $96.0 million on weaker U.S. cannabis hardware and European vaping sales, and gross margin compressed to 12.8%. The balance sheet also deteriorated over the year: stockholders' equity swung to a $29.2 million deficit, accounts receivable were cut roughly in half, and the amount due to a related party grew to $47 million. This is a company reaccelerating revenue from a low base while still absorbing the cost of prior-period receivable and inventory problems.

The call added two things that matter. First, the catalyst list moved from plans to operations: Malaysia secured its nicotine vapor license in March 2026 and its pouch license in May, pouch production began in June with reorders, the Vapor ODM platform launched in July with interest from Chinese brands offshoring production ahead of a 25% tariff advantage, and management cited recent facility visits from major global tobacco companies and a possible near-term commercial announcement. Regulatory tone also improved, with four FDA/HHS meetings in six months, including one with the acting commissioner, and a supplemental PMTA path alongside authorized-device players. Management flagged a potential IKE Tech liquidity event in fiscal 2027 separate from any regulatory authorization.

Second, and less welcome, the cash-flow-positive target quietly slipped. Prior calls repeatedly guided to cash-flow-positive performance in the second half of calendar 2026; this release and call declined to commit to a timeline, citing large planned Malaysia capital spending in fiscal 2027. Legacy receivable write-offs also remain unfinished into fiscal 2027, and the component PMTA is still under review with no ruling. Layered on top is a leadership transition, with Steven Przybyla now leading as President after the co-CEO structure. Guidance is effectively flat-to-looser while the catalysts are real but unmonetized.

Investor sentiment reflects that mixed picture. The Earnings Whispers sentiment score improved sharply to -0.04 from -0.60 ahead of the prior report, a swing of more than half a point that takes the stock from decidedly negative to essentially neutral positioning. Price has not followed: shares are down 11.0% from the $1.46 open after the May report and sit 36.1% below the $2.03 200-day moving average. The inter-earnings quarter produced a 52-week low of $1.01 on July 7, and the stock has since recovered 28.7% from that level, sitting 7.4% above the quarter low of $1.21 and 12.8% below the quarter high of $1.49 — both set on the reporting day itself, a sign of how violently the print was debated. The overall Earnings Whispers trend balance still tilts negative, with price, momentum, and AVWAP trends neutral and the life-cycle trend negative, and the stock remains in the Value Trap phase of the expectation life cycle.

The bottom line is that Ispire finally produced the revenue reacceleration its turnaround story required, and the cost and cash-burn improvements are real, but a 6.3% gross margin, a widening net loss, an elevated credit loss run rate, a shareholders' deficit, and a cash-flow-positive target that lost its date all argue that the inflection is not yet earnings quality. Sentiment has recovered dramatically from deeply negative to neutral while the share price has not, leaving a setup where the burden of proof falls on fiscal 2027 execution in Malaysia, ODM wins, and any IKE Tech commercial or liquidity event to convert this from a Value Trap into something the market will pay for.
